What is Resveratrol and Does it Work?

There's been a lot of hype about this antioxidant laately, but what is resveratrol and why is it suddenly getting so much attention?

Resveratrol is a phytoestrogen chemical compound that is found in a few plants but the main source is the skins on red grapes. Resveratrol is a powerful antioxidant. Until recently red wine was the best way to get Resveratrol in your diet.

It was back in the 1940's that this nutrient was isolated as a constituent in white hellebore roots. Plants produce Resveratrol to protect them against fungi and bacteria that is a result of environmental stressors. Its mother nature's natural plant antibiotic.
