Childhood Rash – Help For an Itchy Skin Rash

It can be frightening if your child has a rash and watching their discomfort with an itchy skin rash. There are some traditional remedies that have been recommended for a childhood rash or toddler rash which include:

1) Oatmeal Baths:

After you have your oatmeal breakfast, make a bath for your child by putting in a cup of oatmeal. This is very soothing on the skin. It also is used by some for acne problems. Make sure the water temperature is at a comfortable level for your child.

2) Calamine Lotion:

Calamine lotion is easy to find in supermarkets and drugs stores , is inexpensive and works well for rash relief. It is often used for fire ant bites as well as poison ivy. There is often a nice smile of relief in treating a childhood rash as soon as the lotion is applied.

3) Aloe Vera:

Aloe vera is used for a number of health conditions, aloe vera is anti-inflammatory and supplies vitamins. If you have an aloe plant you can cut off a piece. If not, the gel is available from health food stores and works well for a toddler rash or itchy skin rash.

It’s hard for kids to not scratch themselves so it helps to put on remedies that will reduce itching so that additional inflammation can be prevented. Remember that a childhood rash can spread with scratching and kids don’t always have the cleanest fingernails.

There are a number of types of rashes and it could be confusing to diagnose at times. Sometimes it can be an allergic reaction to a skin product or food digested that can cause an itchy skin rash. There can also be a rash from a tic. Try to analyze things such as if there is itching, if it’s localized, if any medication was taken lately and if there’s a fever to so you can present the best picture and description to your pediatrician to analyze the childhood rash.
