Medical and Surgical Ways to Treat Perioral Lip Wrinkles

Perioral wrinkles can get pretty deep and be a detriment, or worsen as we age. They are caused by many different things that are hard to avoid and sometimes your life styles is determined by your job, and you don’t want, can’t or find it hard to change it.

Sometimes there just isn’t enough time in the day.

The bad thing about perioral wrinkles is that they are of a kind that only gets worse with time, and they don’t settle into a certain place. Luckily for you there are several medical and surgical routes you can take that will help you to get rid of those pesky wrinkles!

Perioral wrinkles, or peri-oral as they are known in the profession, are easy to treat. You have a variety of long term and short term procedures to take, as well as permanent ones.

The first you can take is a laser skin resurfacing. The laser skin resurfacing is a fairly new but thoroughly tested technology in the cosmetic surgery world.

With laser skin resurfacing, state of the art laser technology is used, for precision and accuracy.

The laser removes your bad skin. Bad skin is skin that is scarred, mutated, sun-damaged, aged etc. Don’t be alarmed by the term “laser”. A light laser is used which peels the skin by vaporizing the imperfect skin. The lasers location and depth can be controlled up to a very accurate degree. You don’t need to fear about scarring or change in pigmentation after taking this procedure.

No blood is drawn in this procedure and it can be either long-term or permanent, depending on your choice and need, and requires only one treatment.

The other medical procedure you can take to remove those wrinkles is called a Restylane injection. Besides treating both thin and deep lines, this procedure may be used by you to enhance your lips.

This procedure uses Restylane, Hylaform and Collagen gel which, like the name suggest, gets injected below your skin and does its job.

The gel will essentially fill in those deep lines and furrows, and will help you restore your youthful look. Your skin will be smoother as a side-effect of this treatment.

Remember that a Restylane injection only lasts a minimum of three months and a maximum of one year, and that you will also require occasional corrections during those three months to a year.
