Hydrogen Peroxide for Whiter Teeth?

Did you know that one of the most effective ways to whiten your teeth from home is by using hydrogen peroxide? I didn’t know this until recently, but the liquid in the little brown bottle is actually the main active whitening ingredient in most commercial products. Although the concentration is usually 3% or under, if your teeth are yellow, you can still effectively remove surface stains with the following remedy that I am about to share with you.

Today, I want to teach you how you can use hydrogen peroxide to whiten your teeth, step-by-step. I will also talk about the positives and negatives of using this remedy. Finally, I want to share with you some final recommendations, and tips that I have learned over the years, as these tips have really helped me brighten my smile, and I know they will help you brighten yours also.

Using hydrogen peroxide is extremely simple. You’re first going to want to put a small amount of the liquid into a small glass. Use about as much as you would use for regular mouthwash. If you would like, you can dilute in 50% water, although I don’t find this necessary. Swish the solution in your mouth for between 30 to 60 seconds. Follow up by brushing your teeth, or flossing and then brushing. Be sure to never swallow any of the solution. If you do, you should probably contact poison control.

The Good News.

The good news is, hydrogen peroxide doesn’t only whiten your teeth; It also kills bacterial, heals canker sores, kills bacteria on your toothbrush, and can even help to prevent gingivitis. Also, as I discussed above, this is the same active ingredient used in most commercial teeth whitening products.

The Bad News.

The bad news is, although you’re using the active ingredient found in most commercial products, you’re only using a 3% concentration solution. Most commercial products are between 8% and 14% hydrogen peroxide, and will provide people with much more significant results.

Final Thoughts.

Using hydrogen peroxide is a cheap and effective way to whiten your teeth from home. I have been using this remedy for 6 years, twice a day, and I continuously see great results. To be honest, I’ve been slacking on it a little bit lately. I’ll have to head down to the store to get some more hydrogen peroxide tomorrow.

Nevertheless, if funds are low, and you’re looking for a cheap, effective home whitening solution, then this is definitely something to try. By the way, hydrogen peroxide doesn’t taste very good. That’s why I recommend brushing afterward. Just a reminder, never swallow the solution.

Can Silica Gel Help Cure Acne?

Silica gel is a great way to help combat mild to moderate acne and its positive benefits have been recorded in a number of scientific studies. In this article I am going to explain what silica gel is, why it is so effective and how to properly apply it.

What is silica gel?

Silica gel is a natural way to combat mild to moderate acne and is even effective on those who suffer from sensitive skin. Silica gel contains particles of silica which is a natural compound found in foods such as oats and barley, as well as things such as mud from thermal springs.

How does silica gel help fight acne?

The particles in silica gel are effective at absorbing impurities such as excess oil / sebum and bacteria. It also has a cooling effect which acts to calm the skin and reduce inflammation. Silica gel has been found to help rid the skin of pustules / whiteheads, clogged pores and blackheads.

How do you apply silica gel to the skin?

Lightly rub a small quantity of silica gel on the face to create a mask. Wait for around 10 minutes so the silica gel dries. Once this happens, gently wash with warm water and a soft facecloth. When you first start using silica gel you should only apply it to a small portion of the face first to test if you may react negatively to it.

Silica gel can be purchased from most natural health food shops and is easily one of the most effective natural acne treatments available today.

Get Rid of Acne Easily! The Best Way of Skin Care is the Natural Way – Natural Cystic Acne Treatment

Acne is the most common skin problems, or defects. Basically, acne is an infection which results in swollen pustules on the skin. If this process is accompanied by cysts that have formed within the skin, it is called cystic acne or acne cystic – natural treatment is the best way of getting rid of acne.

Why Does Acne Form?

The initial form of acne is usually a blackhead, which is caused by the clogging of pores on the skin. Blackheads develop into pimples – and acne. In severe forms, cysts develop under the skin – leading to the formation of cystic acne, full with pus.

What Not To Do?

All forms of acne are best left alone for a period – a task which is easier said than done! Since acne are most commonly on the face, most people can not help but squeeze them. Squeezing acne and blackheads do not lead to scars themselves, but the pus spread to the clean portions of the skin – that causes new acne. Plus, after the squeezing, since that part of the skin is still swollen, people tend to continue toying with it – which will often result in permanent scars, and freckles.

Natural Cures for Acne

The first treatment people usually go for is benzyl peroxide treatment. But treating your skin with chemicals is not the most natural and best way to cure acne. The first method that should be tried is "peeling" the skin. Here's why: The blackheads and the acne that they result in are the result of clogged skin pores – which itself is usually a result of dead skin cells. By peeling the skin you get rid of the dead cells and eliminate the reason why blackheads and acne exist.

Peeling the skin is done with steam treatment – which opens up the pores and clears the infection. Also, the heat provided by the steam betters blood circulation which lowers the dead cell formation rate. All in all, this method is a very effective example of a natural cystic acne treatment, and should definitely be tried by everyone looking for a cure for their acne problem.

The "Lifestyle Diet" That Works!

This Diet, That Diet, … Diet, Diet Diet! Our media is filled with diets and suggestions on how to "lose weight and keep it off". True be told, "diet" is only a part of losing weight and keeping it off. My story and the changes that occurred in my lifestyle have led to the shedding of pounds and a healthier person. The story begins as an out-of-shape 238 lb., 6 ft. person that was bogged down in a life of fast food, instant gratification, and lethargic behavior. My intake was high caloric, fatty foods, beer and sodas. Beside golf on Sunday, my only activity was changing the television channel via remote control. This created a bulge in my waistline that led to increased back pain. I was inactive, unhappy, and quite the "Chunky Monkey", with back pain to boot! The changes began when a doctor told me "to mix in a vegetarian meal or salad" into my diet.I was smart enough to know that " mixing in a salad "was not the path to losing the needed weight to alleviate the back pain and become unhealthy. "Mix in a Salad!", You got to be kidding me! If it were that simple then everyone would be slim and trim. Wholesale changes were needed to begin the change.

The reality that smacked me in the face was reading a USA Today article on obesity in America. The article was accompanied by a chart that measured obesity given your height and weight. When finding my height and weight on the chart, I was not just a "Chunky Monkey". The American Heart Association chart listed me as obese. Obese!?! How could this be! I informed my wife that I was obese and she lovingly danced around the subject and told me that "I could lose a few pounds". Bless her heart, she did not call me "Chunky Monkey" or even worse label me "Obese". She loved me enough to be politically correct and went out and bought the book "The Dr. Phil Diet" by Dr. Dr. Phil McGraw. I adopted the diet and plan to escape from "The Land of the Chunky Monkeys." More importantly, it was the beginning of the path to a healthier lifestyle – because obesity is not a laughing or joking matter. It needs to be taken seriously.

The journey started with the diet plan prescribed by "Dr. Phil". I limited my portions, caloric intake, alcohol and carbohydrates. I began to eat "energy rich" foods that included fruit and vegetables and whole grains. My snacking habits switched from salty, fatty snacks to high fiber, low fat granola. Needless to say, I was not enthusiastic about the changes. My tastebuds wanted to know what the hell was going on. For years I've been hanging out with Ronald McDonald and Wendy and all of the sudden I told them that "the relationship just was not working for me." Although the tastebuds and I would battle it out for a couple weeks, I stuck it out. Now, we go to the scale. Would a couple weeks of Dr. Phil's plan and granola munching lead to weight loss? Yes! I shed 12 lbs. and began to feel as though the break up with Ron and Wendy was a good call. I caution not to be the person that jumps on the scale twice a day, but to weigh myself every few days at the same time to get an accurate reading of my progress. I began to get a true feeling of how the diet was working and building motivation towards continuing the diet. I say "Diet" but, what was starting to take place was a change in lifestyle. Diet and granola snacks are not the only key to a healthier life.

After losing the 12 lbs. and maintaining the loss, it was time to become more active to continue my progress. This allowed me to get over the next obstacle which wasactivity. A weekly round of golf and channel surfing is not sufficient activity for a healthier individual. Interestingly, a couple of hot dogs and "cold ones" from the Snack Cart at Wesburn Golf Club is NOT part of the "Dr. Phil Diet". What does "Diet Boy" do? How does he continue to lose weight without aggravating the compressed discs in his back? How about walking? Yes, walking! Activity with low impact and high reward. I start by walking two miles on the fitness path at my neighborhood park. It seemed like a drag to add this activity into my life with so many channels to surf. It took commitment and the realization that the only "drag" were the extra pounds that I was carrying around. Within weeks, two miles turned into three, three became four, four became five and finally, five became six miles per day. While slowly increasing the walk over a couple of months and staying committed to an hour five days a week for exercise – I started to feel energetic and healthy. More importantly, more miles and more activity translated into more pounds pounds and more energy.

Back to the scales! With adhering to the diet and a continued exercise program, the pounds started to come off. 25 all during the first few months. I picked up a 20 lb. bag of the potatoes at the grocery store and was amazed at the extra weight that I was carrying around. I continued my regime of diet and exercise and the pounds seemed to melt away. It was very gratifying to see and feel the inches come off my waist and my waistline go from a size 40 to a 36 and ever a slim and trim 32. This justified my change in lifestyle and provided that the effort and changes are well worth it .

After a year of dedication, I have gone from 238 lbs. to a 175 lbs. The weight has stayed off and my metabolism has adjusted – so, I'll keep the weight off. I have escaped "The Land of Chunky Monkeys" and become healthier. You must change your lifestyle. Not just your diet! Limit your carbs and alcohol intake. Exercise and eat "energy rich" foods starting with a good, healthy breakfast. Watch and feel the pounds come off and enjoy a healthier lifestyle.
