5 Ways to Reverse Sugar Related Skin Aging

If the effects of the sugar in your diet can already be seen on your face in the form of wrinkles, chances are you are searching for ways to hide them. What if you could reverse the effects that glucose has had on the collagen and elastin in your skin? There are five easy steps that will allow you to turn back the clock on your aging skin.

1. Take Advantage of Antioxidants

Increasing antioxidants on the surface of your skin as well in your diet effectively reverses the wrinkles caused by glucose. These nutrients prevent the glucose from joining onto protein molecules and causing wrinkles. To apply antioxidants to your skin, look for facial products that include vitamin C , E, or natural ingredients such as green tea. Increasing antioxidant rich foods in your diet, raw dark green, red, and yellow vegetables and nuts is a great way to fight wrinkles naturally.

2. Include Vitamins in Your Daily Regimen

Vitamins are a great way to ensure that you are getting the recommended daily intake of all the necessary vitamin and minerals. Two of these vitamins – B1 and B6 – work along side antioxidants to hinder glucose’s ability to adhere to the proteins in your skin. To supply your body with these vitamins, eat lots of meat such as fish, pork, dark green vegetables, and whole grain foods. To ensure you have enough B vitamins to reverse wrinkles, take a daily multivitamin.

3. Protect Yourself From the Sun

Exposing your skin to the sun for a long periods also has drastic effects on you skin. The UV rays damage heat up and dry out the elastin and collagen in your skin making it less resilient. Some studies also indicate that the sun increases the number of AGEs (advanced glycation end products) produced during the absorption of glucose. To protect your skin, always use a daily sunscreen with a rating no less than SPF 30. Wearing clothing such as a white T-shirt only has an SPF rating of 5, so you will want to be sure to apply it all over if you plan to spend a long period in the sun.

4. Apply Anti-Aging Products Regularly

Anti-aging creams and serums can reverse skin aging. These products commonly contain antioxidants and other natural ingredients that help to renew the collagen and elastin in your skin. If you are looking to treat wrinkles caused by sugar, search for products that contain ingredients such as alistin and amino guanidine. These products actually inhibit sugar’s ability to produce AGEs.

5. Eliminate the Sugar in Your Diet

Limiting the amount of sugar in your daily diet is another easy way to deal with wrinkles. Avoid foods with added sugar and read nutrition labels to detect hidden sugars such as maltose, fructose, and turbinado. Eating foods high in glucose-fighting nutrients such as protein and fiber combined with portion control have also been found to reduce wrinkles.

So there you go.

Reversing skin aging doesn’t only involve glucose levels, but it definitely thought to be a major contributing factor. To treat the wrinkles you already have and prevent future ones from forming, you will need to use a combination of methods to reduce the effect of sugar on your skin. To achieve healthy looking skin, protect your skin as much as you can, control the amount of AGEs in your skin, and live a healthy lifestyle.

How My Grandmother Kept The Wrinkles Away

My grandmother had the most beautiful flawless translucent skin.

I used to sit in front of the dressing mirror with her. Before she put on the rouge, loose powder and lipstick, she would do little exercises with her face. Pushing parts of her face this way and that. Hanging upside down on the bed. Sticking her tongue out. Generally making funny faces.

I would imitate her and we would both have a good laugh. It was fun and entertaining when I was small, but now I realize the reason she had beautiful flawless translucent skin. She was working at it.

As we both got much older I began to notice her face still had a youthful appearance about it. I noticed this most when she was entertaining a group of friends about her same age. I’m pretty sure they didn’t do grandmothers’ face exercises. I remember those exercises and I’m going to share some of them with you today in this article.

One I remember well is the one she did for her under eye circles. Using both hands, she would place her first three fingers of each hand under her eyes. She said you had to be very careful because the skin under the eye is the most delicate and easy to damage skin on your body. Keeping her eyes open she would use her fingers to gently lift the under eye skin up. She would hold to a count of ten. She would then remove her fingers letting the under eye skin relax for a count of ten. She repeated this twenty five times. This kept the blood from pooling, she said. That blood is what makes the under eye area appear dark.

This next one is done one eye at a time. Place the first two fingers of your left hand above the left eye on the brow bone. Place the thumb of your left hand below the left eye just above the cheek bone. Now try to wink your left eye. Do this winking exercise fifty times on each side. Now for the neck. This may make you a bit dizzy, so plan to do it when you have a few minutes to regain your balance. Lay down on your back on a bed or sofa or anything that allows you to hang your head over and down. Now lift your head up slowly and hold to a count of at least ten. Up to twenty counts would increase the benefits of this exercise if you are able. Repeat this fifteen to twenty times. This will firm the neck and jaw line. It also works to tighten a double chin over time.

These beauty tricks will improve your appearance if you do them regularly. As an added benefit the above techniques may be used to entertain small children. Happy laugh lines to you.

Aging, How to Slow Down Wrinkles

There are many factors that contribute to the development of wrinkles in the human body. It is, however, important to note that the body will develop wrinkles naturally over time no matter what. There are certain things you can do to slow down the aging process. Which, in turn, slows down the accumulation of wrinkles.

Try not to spend too much time in the sunlight if you can at all help it. Make sure you wear protection from the Ultraviolet radiation. UV Rays, as they are called, cause the outer cell wall to become thinner. They also cause the collagen in your skin to break down more quickly. Collagen aids in the skins elasticity, over time the sun causes the skin to sag and develop wrinkles.

The next thing to get under control is diet. All foods are placed on the glycemic index, which rates foods from 1 to 100. The higher on the GI, the more that food causes your blood sugar to spike after eating that food. These foods higher on the GI tend to be a lot harder on the body, causing you to age more quickly. Whereas, foods low on the GI, do not cause your blood sugar to spike, allowing you to age more often and slowly.

As the body ages, the development of free radicals can not be avoided. Free radicals are oxygen molecules on the surface of the skin that are unstable. These unstable molecules cause collagen to break down more rapidly causing wrinkles. Free radicals on the surface of the skin are caused by overexposure to sunlight, cigarette smoking, and pollution.

As we all know, you will never stop aging. You can, however, slow down the hands of time by starting some simple routines. Always use sun protection, overexposure to the sun can also cause skin cancer. Have a healthy diet, foods low on the GI are best to slow down aging. Finally, try not to smoke, not smoking will help a lot more than just slowing the aging process.
