According to the studies conducted in this field, it has been found that there was a risk of skin diseases caused by close contact with the aquarium. This infection was then figured out to be Mycobacterium marinum.

The bacteria for this disease can be found in the freshwater and cold water ie it can survive both water conditions. It is also found in many parts of the world. Many skin infection outbreaks in the swimming pool have been associated with it. This is one of the major reasons for taking care of the cleanliness of the pool. A well-chlorinated pool or water tank can keep this bacterium at bay.

These infections are usually associated with trauma and are caused by the cuts and scratches caused by fish spines. These injuries are typically limited to the hands and arms. Of people who handle fish. This bacterium does not survive really well at body temperatures. However, this Mycobacterium marinum is also found in fish aquariums.

The bacterium takes a little time to cause infection and multiply. The skin infections caused are much common in the kids than in adults. Usually, people who get infected feel the pain from these infections.

You can prevent these infections by following the steps below:

1. Wear gloves while handling your fish aquarium. For example, take care to wear gloves when you are cleaning the aquarium.

2. Whenever you have cuts avoid fresh or salt water.

3. When you have to clean your fish; wear leather gloves so as to avoid cuts and abrasions from the spine of the fish.
