The skin is the largest organ of the human body. It plays a vital role in maintaining the overall health of the body.

With so many important roles we need to look after the skin so that it can work to its optimal level. A break in the skin will leave the body open to the entry of microorganisms, which may cause infection and disease.
Moisturize the skin regularly
One of the most important things to do when caring for the skin is to keep it well moisturized. Dry skin is a very common condition and has many causes although the most common are over exposure to water, using drying cleaning agents, various weather conditions and skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis.
The skin dries out when it has been stripped of its natural oils that lock moisture in and keep out harsh external elements. These oils need to be replaced to prevent the skin from becoming cracked and more severely damaged.
Prevention is better than cure
The old saying is so true. It is better to look after the skin and prevent it from drying out than to try to rehydrate it once it has become overly dry.
One of the best ways to ensure the skin does not dry out is to rehydrate it regularly. Try to minimize the amount of exposure your skin has to water, especially hot water and always apply a moisturizer after contact with water. An all over body moisturizer after showering is the best way to keep the skin moist and in good health.
Also protect the skin from the environment. Protect yourself from wind exposure and from overly cold conditions and avoid over exposure to the sun. Sunburn is very damaging, and in severe cases the skin cannot recover from the damage caused.
Drink plenty of water
Drinking plenty of water will also help to keep the skin moist. And a healthy diet will help to keep the skin healthy. Look after your skin and your skin will look after you.
